You might have seen a massage chair when you last visited a shopping mall. Normally, you see people reclined fully back and enjoying themselves as they get a full body massage. Underneath the hood of these mechanical masseuses, there are a range of different technologies. All massage chairs come with a remote control. The remote control is typically hardwired to the recliner. A number of function buttons and possibly an LCD are used to display features currently in operation.

To make things easier for the user, the manufacturer usually has automatic programs. These are massages which are programmed into the recliner and provide full body therapy for a given duration. There are so manual techniques allowing you to choose a particular massage movement and select where to apply it.

There are a number of different designs for the roller mechanism which targets your back, neck and shoulders. These roller designs consist of two, four and six rollers. Each roller acts as a massaging surface to stretch and elongate muscle tissue.

Each of the roller mechanisms is able to perform a variety of massage movements. The most prominent movements are kneading, tapping and rolling. Normally a strong motor is used for each of these individual movements. This gives you the ability to change the strength of the massage movement to suit your needs.

Some roller mechanisms can move in two dimensions. More advanced roller designs can move in three dimensions. Rather than just moving up and down your back, these advanced roller designs can penetrate deeper into the back for greater relief.

A number of technologies are being employed in order to make a body scan of the user. This is done to better customize the massage for each person. Typically, the scanning will detect the shoulders and neck. Some advanced body scans can make a virtual map of your back and determine the curvature of your spine.

Other advanced sensors are used to determine your position in the chair. One such technology is the body position sensor. This sensor can detect if you move in the chair and what your new location is. This information is then fed to the computer which redirects the rollers based on where you now are in the recliner.

Air compression systems are very popular in most massage chairs. This system uses a pump and a manifold of solenoid valves to switch the air to different airbags throughout the chair. Airbags are contoured to the shape of the muscles and body parts that they will massage.

You can now find stretching systems in many top recliners. These can provide upper body or lower body stretching. Stretching is a great way to improve flexibility and range of motion. There are different technologies which work in tandem to provide stretching in these advanced recliners.

Music is a great way to relax. Almost every massage therapist knows that by relaxing the mind, the muscles will be less tense and easier to massage. Many massage chair manufacturers are integrating MP3 music players to provide a more relaxing environment which increases the effectiveness of the massage.

There are quite a number of different technologies contained in a robotic massage chair. The software programs are becoming more sophisticated which provides consumers with a greater number of features. Remote controls make it simple and easy to choose the exact massage therapy that you would like and where to apply it. A robotic massage chair is a great way to get daily massage therapy.
